The Moors and Alhaurin el Grande

The Moors made a great impression on the village, giving it is current name of Alhaurin el Grande – which means "Garden of Allah". They constructed various structures, some of which still remain such as The Torre de Fahala which can be seen from the main gates of "El Roble", situated on the Camino de las Torres del Fahala and the 12th Century Moorish archway, the Arcos de Cobertizo, which can be seen in the village close to the church.
