Alhaurin el Grande

Alhaurin el Grande, in the Malaga region, as well as having an interesting past is a thriving, lively and still traditional Spanish village today with local festivals, religious events, weekly market, a good range of restaurants and bars.

There are many beautiful buildings including the three churches and the Town Hall with its plaza, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where there are three Roman columns. This plaza looks out across the valley and has some of the best views in the area.

To help you enjoy your self catering holiday in Alhaurin el Grande you cannot miss a trip, on Thursday mornings between 10am and 2pm, to the market held on the Feria ground, situated behind the Mercadona supermarket. This has various items for sale from clothes, fruit, vegetables, leather goods, spices and much more.

There are additional markets in the Costa del Sol region of Spain – Fuengirola, Cartama, Tivoli World etc – which are held on various days of the week.
